Leadership by meticulous planning

I read "The Score Takes Care of Itself" by Bill Walsh (actually written by Steve Jamison and Craig Walsh). Walsh was best known as the developer of the "West Coast Offence" and highly successful coach of the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League. While the book gives a glimpse of the inside of the NFL (and both flattering and unflattering views of my dad's hero-Paul Brown), it's really a book about leadership.

There are many lists (Walsh was a continuous builder of lists), but if thre is one thing I am walking away with it's Walsh's meticulous, detailed and comprehensive planning. He planned everything. In the book, he tells why. I already do many of the things he did, but not enough by far. I'm already changing my approaches. This book is a quick read, but unlike many business books, it gives advice to the end. There's a lot to learn from it. Don't get distracted by simplicity. It's a gold mine. (OK, wish I had an Amazon affiliate account so I could send you there.)
